Q: Dr. Kamal, you’ve had a successful marketing career. What inspired you to shift your focus toward child development and start the DARINGPRINCE Foundation?
A: It started with observing the mental and emotional struggles children face today—addiction to gadgets, declining family bonds, peer pressure, anxiety, and a value vacuum. I realized that no amount of academic success will matter if children grow up emotionally weak and morally lost. That’s when I wrote my book Daring Prince, which later became the philosophy behind the foundation. I knew I had to do something beyond my profession—to build a future generation with strength, values, and courage.
Q: What does the DARINGPRINCE Foundation aim to achieve?
A: Our mission is to develop children’s personality, values, and emotional intelligence from an early age. We want to raise bold, responsible, and emotionally intelligent kids—future leaders who think clearly, feel deeply, and act courageously. It’s not just about keeping kids away from bad influences like drugs or screens, it’s about giving them clarity, purpose, and inner strength.
Q: How is your approach different from typical school education or parenting models?
A: Traditional education focuses on IQ and marks. We focus on values and EQ (emotional intelligence). Our storytelling-based workshops teach children how to say “no” to harmful habits, how to build confidence, how to love their parents, how to manage emotions, and how to become a good human being. We also guide parents to become better role models. It’s a complete value-building ecosystem.
Q: What age group do you work with, and how are your programs structured?
A: Our core focus is on children aged 5 to 15. We use storytelling, activities, short films, roleplays, and interactive workshops to make learning engaging. Sessions are divided into themes like self-discipline, cleanliness, gratitude, peer pressure resistance, and emotional control. These aren’t just lectures—they’re transformational experiences.
Q: How do children respond to these sessions?
A: The results have been overwhelming. Children become more respectful, more focused, and more expressive. They start communicating better with parents and teachers. Many kids have voluntarily given up screen addiction or taken up small social service actions. We often hear parents say: “This is the child I always wanted to see.”
Q: Tell us about your recent appointment at the National Education Forum (NEF).
A: I was honored to be appointed National Chief Co-ordinator – Network & Development Projects by NEF. It’s a big responsibility. With NEF’s support, we aim to scale our programs across India, partner with schools, and train volunteers and teachers in value-based education techniques.
Q: What’s the biggest challenge you face in your mission?
A: The biggest challenge is mindset—many people still believe marks are everything. But that’s changing. Schools and parents are waking up to the importance of character, mental health, and emotional strength. We just need to keep the momentum going.
Q: What are your future plans for the foundation?
A:
-
Launching Train-the-Trainer programs to multiply our impact
-
Creating a digital portal for parents, children, and schools
-
Partnering with NGOs, CSR bodies, and governments
-
Publishing regional content and expanding to rural and slum areas
Q: Finally, what message would you like to give to parents and educators reading this?
A: Never underestimate your influence. Children are not just watching what you say—they’re absorbing who you are. If we want a brave, honest, and kind generation, we must live those values first. Join us in making value education a movement, not just a message.
